There has not been one golfer EVER that hit the ball perfectly where they wanted on every single occasion.
Having the ability to control the golf ball with its trajectories and its curvature and its spin is a special skill possessed by the best players. This feature of their game permits them the opportunity to save par or even make birdies from what often seems a hopeless situation.

My aim with my feet look almost identical however one of these shots curved around the tree from left to right and the other curved around the tree from right to left- both finishing on the green with a chance at making a birdie.

Which shot will work best based on the amount of trouble I am in and the amount of more imminent trouble I need to avoid ? Which club will work best for the shot I have selected ? Imagination will come more and more into play once you have mastered the art of ball control. This skill will allow you better options to not only remove yourself from the predicament you are faced with, but often it can lead to an even greater opportunity to produce a lower score on your scorecard.

Seve Ballesteros“When in trouble, I always stand directly behind the ball, stare intently at my target, and wait patiently for the movies to begin. Sometimes I see so many shots come to life that I think I’m looking into a kaleidoscope. When that happens, I stay in the same spot as I rerun all the options until I ‘see’ one working better than the others. Then, and only then, do I visualize the specific swing needed to execute the shot, and finally select the proper club for the task.” |
